Hey there! My name is Afiqah. I am a recent Architecture Graduate from National University of Singapore (NUS).
Over my undergraduate course, I liked to look at architecture as buildings embedded in a larger network of systems rather than discrete objects. The relationship between buildings is as important as what goes on within the building itself. Architecture is about connecting different spaces in our cities and creating meaningful and joyful spaces to meet the needs of different users. With climate change being a prevailing issue in the architectural discourse today, I like to envision a future where man and nature, not only co-exist, but also thrive.
For my Masters thesis, I explored mans’ relationship with food in an urban environment like Singapore and how spaces within neighbourhoods can be utilised to grow, share and recycle food. I believe architecture can play a crucial role in creating lifestyle changes.
Aside from my curiosities in architecture, I am constantly learning new things and exploring my creativity through film, photography and graphic design. I fill up my time by picking up new skils and busying myself with adhoc projects that allow me to express my creativity.
This portfolio will cover some works from my thesis, undergraduate studies, as well as some creative projects outside architecture that I have been involved in.
